Protecting the environment and acting on climate change

This week at Westaways we are pulling together ideas for a two day event next summer to spread awareness and to support local organisations who are already taking action to reduce our impact on the environment and on the climate

The event will address all of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, but will highlight actions in.

-Reducing consumption, reusing items, and recycling or composting materials.

-Saving energy by planning use and using energy-efficient appliances

-Planning travel to reduce emissions, consider walking, using a bike, or using public transport. Consider car sharing, is that journey necessary?

-Buying sustainably, buying seasonal local produce, avoiding single-use plastics, and cutting food waste.

We want to show that individual efforts, no matter how small, collectively make a significant impact. And if we encourage people to start with manageable changes that this can lead to broader, more sustainable habits over time.

The event is focused on simple practical steps that people can make. It will be open to all with the first day welcoming the education sector and the second welcoming local businesses.

We would love to hear from you if you want to be involved. Mail me at charles@westawaysausages.com
