Events in May

It is a wonderful time of the year in Devon, and this is showcased by the Devon County Show held in the middle of the month.

One of the first large Agricultural Shows of the year. The show is a celebration of rural life in Devon.

May is also the month for several international events to create awareness around various environmental issues and promote sustainable practices.

  1. Greenery Day (4th May): A national holiday in Japan to encourage to commune with nature and to be thankful for its blessings.
  2. International Compost Awareness Week (5th – 11th May 2024): Celebrated around the world each year during the first full week of May.
  3. Water Saving Week (13th – 17th May 2024): Learn how to reduce our water usage and why it’s important to do so.
  4. World Bee Day (20th May): Bees are vitally important to every living thing on planet Earth. But bees and other pollinators, such as butterflies, bats and hummingbirds, are increasingly under threat from human activities.

We have had a long and wet winter, but now is the time to look ahead with excitement. Nature is the greatest source of so much in life that makes life worth living.
