As we look ahead to 2025 it is the Chinese Year of the Wood Snake. Each year one the twelve Zodiac Animals are paired with one of the five elements – metal, wood, water, fire and earth. The last year of the wood snake was 1965.
In 1965 we had the Vietnam war, the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show, the first spacewalk, plans were announced to build Disney World near Orlando, and Queensland extended voting rights to Aboriginals.
With the re-election of Trump, and global turmoil what inspiration should business leaders take from the Chinese Zodiac?
The Snake is known for its wisdom and strategic thinking. Business leaders can draw inspiration from this by focusing on long-term planning and making well-thought-out decisions. 2025 is a year to be perceptive and strategic, using experience and research to navigate challenges.
The Wood Snake symbolises transformation and growth. Like the snake who changes his skin, leaders should embrace change and look for opportunities to innovate and evolve. This could mean adopting new technologies, exploring new markets, or rethinking business models to stay ahead.
Snakes are resilient and adaptable creatures. In a world of political and economic uncertainty, it’s crucial for leaders to remain flexible and resilient. This might involve diversifying investments, building strong contingency plans, and being ready to pivot when necessary.
The Snake’s intuition is a powerful tool. Leaders should trust their instincts and be open to new ideas and perspectives. This can help in identifying emerging trends and making decisions that align with the company’s vision and values.
Effective communication and strong relationships are vital. The Snake’s charm and ability to communicate can inspire leaders to foster better relationships with employees, partners, and customers. Building a supportive and collaborative environment can lead to greater success.
I think we can all learn from the snake…
